The History of our Food
The history of India goes back for more than 5000 years. In that era, the people followed a way of life that co-existed with nature. The entire civilisation lived in harmony, vegan and vegetarian food was the norm and this was the time many flavors and styles of cooking vegetarian food that was based on plants and natural produce evolved.
Thus the food from that era is still consumed today and there is so much of variety that there is no need to invent new foods or flavors. A combination of fresh vegetables, spices and skill passed down over the generations is all that is required.
Our Head Chef Varsha, who is Nihar's mother, carries this ancient tradition and rare skill with her.

''For me the dream has always been to share the joy and happiness of really good Indian food and I wanted others to be able to experience the authentic food that I grew up with. Coming from Hyderabad, India I was always surrounded by so many amazing foods and flavours that were naturally vegan and vegetarian. Before I moved overseas for my studies, I never imagined that food would become such a big comfort factor and anchor for me when feeling homesick. Then when I had to cut out gluten and dairy from my diet a few years ago to improve my health I found it very difficult even here in London to find authentic Indian food that was ok for me to eat as well as bursting with flavour''
"Coming from a family that already had a wealth of experience in the Indian vegan and vegetarian food industry in India I knew I had the right team with me and in February 2020 I felt the time was right to make my dream a reality and we opened our restaurant and takeaway at 82, Hoe Street, Walthamstow. We are a small family run restaurant. While my wife and I look after the business side of things, my mum is Head Chef and my dad manages the show. Together they have more than 40 years of combined restaurant experience".
